Henderson Construction was subcontracted to complete the excavation and removal of approximately 10,000 tonnes of low-level radioactive waste from a former waste site located in Port Hope, ON. Henderson Construction cut and removed the geomembrane cover exposing the waste in sections and excavated to a depth greater than 5m in sections. This was executed with the installation of a sheet pile shoring wall along the roadway and slot trenching in sections along the shoring wall. Once the remediation and verification process was complete, the site was backfilled in a series of lifts extending from the bottom of the ravine up the slope to Strachan Street.
