Henderson Construction was scoped to removal all above ground structures and excavate and remove approximately 10,000 tonnes of soil contaminated with low level radioactive waste. Henderson Construction put in place environmental controls including perimeter safety fencing and silt controls, erosion control measures and water management solutions including multiple 50,000L Frac Tanks for water storage and 20,000L Vacuum box for easy removal of contaminated water off site. During the excavation phase we set up traffic control with TCPs and provided all signage as per Book 7 and our traffic management plan. Henderson Construction provided the trucking support to haul low level radioactive waste to the long-term waste management facility located in Port Hope, ON. throughout the excavation and phase. We provided our own surveying in house by use of base and rover as well as drone surveys of the excavated areas. We supplied all aggregates for backfill and coordinated a 3rd party consultant for compaction. The site was restored to final grade with a granular topcoat.
