Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We’re seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to assist with our high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have a min of 3 years’ experience in the industry, preference to those with 310T. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for equipment maintenance and repair, troubleshooting heavy equipment and vehicles, and ensuring proper vehicle maintenance to support our construction operations.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair skills
- Experience with Heavy Equipment troubleshooting
- Vehicle Maintenance knowledge
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Certification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics (421A and/or 310T) is a plus
- Previous experience in a heavy-duty repair
- Able to work with a team and independently
- Perform and Issue Safety Standards Certificates, Annual/Semi-Annual Inspection Certificates and Stickers in accordance with the Ontario Drive On Program and complete paperwork as per the Ontario MVIS Program.
- Complete all necessary documents as per the Ontario MVIS Program, including vehicle records
- Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary
- Respond to road calls
- Ability to exercise regular visual concentration in the use of all equipment and tools, equipment functioning, product production and job site work efficiency.
- Maintain cleanliness in areas of work
- Follow the direction of the Fleet Supervisor/Manager
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Licensed Truck & Coach Mechanic (310T) and/or (421A) Heavy Duty Equipment
- Welding experience is an asset
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Knowledge and experience in Preventative Maintenance Programs;
- Good knowledge of trade-related worksite safety
- Proven work experience on industry-related heavy-duty equipment such as gravel trucks, plow trucks, winter maintenance attachments, loaders, graders, sweepers, mowers, backhoes, etc.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- 310S ticket, 421A qualifications, preference to those with 310T ticket
- Three or more years of hands-on experience
- Desire to grow and continue to learn in the industry
- Welding background or experience
- Experience using modern diagnostic tools and equipment to find faults and develop an action plan to commence repairs
- Knowledge of components, parts and supplies used to maintain and repair heavy equipment
