Civil Operator
Without the strength of our Civil team, we wouldn’t be able to offer the industry-leading service we’re known for. We’re seeking an experienced operator to assist with our high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have a min of 3 years experience in the industry.
This is a full-time on-site role as an Operator at Henderson Group in Port Hope, ON. The Operator will be responsible for operating machinery, performing quality control checks, utilizing hand tools, and ensuring effective communication with team members.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Operate various pieces of equipment, primarily excavators
- Clean and lubricate equipment, refill equipment tanks
- Conduct pre-operational checks
- Installs, operates and removes attachments (i.e., quick attach, buckets, rakes, levels, etc.)
- Performs operations, such as excavating, grading, trenching, stockpiling, backfilling and towing, ensuring maximum productivity
- Checks grades, performs cut and fill operations, backfills trenches and excavations, creates slopes, creates mass excavations, clears land, strips surface materials, stockpiles and places materials, lifts materials.
- Communicates through various techniques including hand signals
- Perform minor repairs on equipment
- Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to the proper manager
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3 Years of previous Heavy Equipment Operating Experience
- Moderate ability to interpret drawings
- Monitor and ensure all safety risks are removed from the excavation
- Valid driver’s license
- Be a results-oriented leader capable of working productively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable and dependable
- Enjoy working with others
- Class 1 license would be considered an asset but not mandatory
